Passives

Passive

Undead Nature

Immune to poison, disease, charm, fear, and stun. Cannot be turned. It never flees; it fights until destroyed.

Passive

Revenant's Vow

Knows the distance and direction to its sworn enemy at all times. Regains 1 Vigor at the start of its turn; if cut down it reforms within a day unless its body is burned or its vengeance is complete.

Maneuvers

Maneuver

Vengeful Glare

Fixes its dead eyes on its sworn enemy within 30 ft. Heart save (DC 15) or the target takes 3 damage and is stunned 1 round; on a success it takes 1 Vigor damage.

Reactions

Reaction

Undying Wrath

When destroyed, it makes one final attack against the creature that felled it before collapsing.

Tactics

GM tactics

Tracks its target across any distance. Will ignore non-targets unless they actively interfere. Uses Vengeful Glare to paralyze the target, then beats them to death. Cannot be reasoned with, bargained with, or stopped until vengeance is complete or time runs out.

Running it

Rules

  • Shield of Tier + Heart mod over a Vitality pool of 2 x Tier. Full Vigor at combat start; at the start of its turn it rolls 3 exploding d4s and regains 1 Vigor per 4. Dead at 0 Vigor and 0 Vitality.
  • A hit rolls d8. A crit rolls two: 2d8.
  • Crits on a natural 17+ (Cunning 16).
  • Two or three attacks in a normal turn: multiattack is the threat scaler, and one swing a round makes it a mook.
  • Checks morale at one-third Vitality: Heart save against the party leader's presence, or GM judgment.
  • NPCs never take wounds.
