A lean silver fox the size of a large dog with pupil-less white eyes and shimmering metallic fur, accompanied by distant chiming bells. It hunts oathbreakers with patient, relentless focus.

A Minor has no attribute mechanics: the scores describe the creature, they do not roll.

Passives

Passive

Detect Oathbreaker

Senses oathbreakers within 60 ft and always hunts them first.

Passive

Oath-Mark

Its bite leaves a silver-glowing wound on an oathbreaker that no magic can heal until the oath is fulfilled or publicly renounced. Against oath-keepers the bite deals only 1 Vigor damage and leaves no mark.

Maneuvers

Maneuver

Watchful Pursuit

Fixes on one oathbreaker it can see; the Oathling has advantage on attacks against that creature for 1 round.

Reactions

Reaction

Silver Snap

When an oathbreaker within 5 ft moves away, the Oathling makes a bite attack against it.

Tactics

GM tactics

Packs of Oathlings surround and harry oathbreakers, using Watchful Pursuit to coordinate focus. They ignore oath-keepers unless attacked. The whole pack fixes on a single guilty target and wears it down. Will follow oathbreakers for weeks without attacking, building psychological pressure.

Running it

Rules

  • Vigor equal to Tier, with an overflow of the same size behind it: 1, then 1 more. Neither half regenerates.
  • A hit deals a flat 1, no roll. A crit (natural 20 only) rolls d4 and never lands below 1.
  • Crits on a natural 20 only.
  • Minor: no stat modifiers or dice in play; its scores describe the creature, they do not roll.
  • At 0 Vigor it breaks and flees, out of the fight but alive; Fanatics fight on into the overflow instead.
  • Total damage reaching 2 kills it outright, and a single blow of 2 or more kills it on the spot.
  • Vigor damage is simply damage against a Minor: its whole pool is Vigor.
  • Group morale: when its group loses half its number, fled or dead, the rest check morale.
  • NPCs never take wounds.
