Weeping Shade
Fiend · Crown of Despair
T2d6Minor
A translucent grey figure perpetually weeping quietly, its tears dissolving before hitting the ground. Its face was once beautiful but is just indistinct enough that you cannot remember it after looking away. It spreads despair not through argument but through proximity.

A Minor has no attribute mechanics: the scores describe the creature, they do not roll.
Passives
Incorporeal
Immune to non-magical weapons and drifts through walls and solid objects.
Repelled by Hope
A genuine expression of hope (heartfelt prayer, a sincere vow, meaningful song) drives the shade back 10 ft each round. It cannot approach the source while the expression continues.
Maneuvers
Sorrowful Wail
Every creature within 30 ft that can hear makes a Heart save (DC 13) or takes 2 damage and is frightened for 1 round; on a success it takes 1 Vigor damage.
Drift of Sorrow
Glides up to 30 ft through creatures and objects. Each creature it passes through takes 1 Vigor damage as cold despair washes over it.
Tactics
GM tactics
Drifts through walls to reach isolated targets. Opens with Sorrowful Wail to scatter a group, then glides through the survivors with Drift of Sorrow, taking a toll from each. Retreats through stone when met with genuine hope or overwhelming force.
Running it
Rules
- Vigor equal to Tier, with an overflow of the same size behind it: 2, then 2 more. Neither half regenerates.
- A hit deals a flat 2, no roll. A crit (natural 20 only) rolls d6 and never lands below 2.
- Crits on a natural 20 only.
- Minor: no stat modifiers or dice in play; its scores describe the creature, they do not roll.
- At 0 Vigor it breaks and flees, out of the fight but alive; Fanatics fight on into the overflow instead.
- Total damage reaching 4 kills it outright, and a single blow of 4 or more kills it on the spot.
- Vigor damage is simply damage against a Minor: its whole pool is Vigor.
- Group morale: when its group loses half its number, fled or dead, the rest check morale.
- NPCs never take wounds.
